The 4th free service was scheduled only for 7000km but I went ahead and got it done well before that since the bike was feeling pretty harsh . This time Auto Service was not busy so I finally got my desire fulfilled and got it serviced at Auto Service . As you might know M/s Auto Service run by Venkat Shyam is one of the best BAL Authorised probiking service centers .
I sat there and observed all the details involved in servicing the bike . It didn't take too long. I had to change the oil since the engine had lost about 500ml accidentally before I came for service and my Motul Topup can was not with me . I had spare cans of Valvoline Premium 4T so I asked the personnel - Mr. Reddy - to refill with VP4T. Engine is butter smooth needless to say :D
New Silencer
After the HID fitment I had undertaken a ride to Mysore in the evening to check it out . While I was pleased with the results I was disappointed to discover a problem with the silencer. The heat shield had worked loose again. This is the second time this has happened . On the first occasion , Khivraj had replaced the silencer and this time too they did the same . So the Silencer is now brand new ..
New Starter Motor
I went back to Venkats today afternoon to get the idle set correctly and discovered that BAJAJ are replacing the starter motors on P200's as a precautionary measure after a commutator problem was discovered . Thanks to Venkat I was spared the trouble of having to go back to Khivraj all the way .
IV Svc report
Engine is smoother - oil change has played its part . Remains to be seen for how long it stays this way . All other minor niggles with the bike have been addressed and the bike is close to perfect right now . One of the highlights for me was seeing how the service is carried out in a probiking svc center. It was very interesting to see the internals.
I had mentioned the errant air filter warning icon in my previous post . When I saw the filter element it was clear that this was not a bug in the electronics - rather the filter element was clogged indeed . It would appear that it has not been attended to correctly in the previous svc @ Khivraj. Subsequent to clearing the clog , the flashing icon is now gone . Ripping it doesn't seem to activate it so I hope the BUG was a misunderstanding ...
Fuel Economy was around 39-40 kpl before svc. Performance had dropped a bit . It seems to have improved now but I have to monitor it in the long term. Expecting a small improvement in Fuel economy too .

Hi Sandeep, I chanced upon this post when looking for HID conversion kits for P200. Thanks for the very informative article replete with pics, wiring diagram et al. I live in Bangalore too and would like to go for a conversion sometime next month. Can you please let me know how the performance has been so far?
My other concern was the headlamp glass (well plastic) melting due to high temp. Or, is it a concern at all?! Please let me know. TIA :-)
Hi Karthik,
The HID has been working very well indeed. There are no issues related to it on my bike .
Glass is the best material for the headlamp dome but obviously you don't get glass fittings so the stock plastic dome has to do . So far no major problems associated with melting due to heat .. although in the long term it would manifest itself visibly enough for sure.
Thanks Sandeep. Can you send me the address and phone numbers of the place you purchased the HID kit from? Also, the address of your mechanic.
TIA,
Karthik

The person from whom I purchased it is Mr Thouqueer . He is based in Koramangala - near the ejipura signal IIRC . I don't have his address but here is his telephone no : His no is 9845004858
The mech who helped put it all together is Shankar - his no is - 9980224483
hi Sandeep....
I live in Bangalore and own a P200. I felt that the headlight on the bike was very inadequate, so I have upped the rating of the coil to fit a Philips Crystal-vision 60W bulb (meant for 4-wheelers) as my headlamp. Is there a way I can still replace it with an HID lamp for better illumination?
Hi sidhusaab,
I suggest you to go back to the stock 35W coil setup and then get a HID kit. You cant put just the HID bulb alone into your existing setup. You need to get the whole kit. In your case you need to buy a 35W HID kit.
I never advocate Coil-rewinding ..coz I have experienced first hand the flip side of getting it done :(
thanks for the reply buddy. I guess I'll do with this bulb for now as I am a li'il short of funds rite now :D
any suggestions for replacing the stock filter with a K&N make and increasing the size of the jets?? Will it offer a marginal increase in performance?? I have managed to top it out at 120kmph, I wanna see 130-135 come up on that digital speedo.
Where can I get a genuine K&N filter? I don't trust the blokes on JC Road.
@ Sidhusaab,
KN plus upsized jets and proper tuning will give "marginal" improvement. Sometimes you can't even feel the improvement. I say its a waste of time and money. Rather save it and use on your HID :)
You can get KN filters from Methods Automotive authorised re-sellers. There is one in 4th Blk Jayanagar - the shop is called Junction.
